Channel Information

Sailing SV Make My Day Hi we’re Michael & Leontien. A couple from the Netherlands in our 50s. We purchased our girl Make My Day in September of 2015 with purpose of exploring this beautiful planet of ours. She’s a 1980 Carena 40 steel ketch built in Zaandam in the Netherlands. We didn’t like the idea of waiting until we were old enough to retire before starting out. Our plan was 5 years in the making. Getting our boat and ourselves as ready as possible before untying the lines. Since we’re too “young” to retire, we had to make a lot of adjustments to our life in order to afford this adventure. This channel will try to show you the challenges we face and the rewards we reap. From the preparation of the boat and never ending maintenance to the challenges of the open sea and the beautiful places we visit. If you’re contemplating this lifestyle change or just want to live vicariously through us, please subscribe and click the notification bell to stay up with our progress.
